There are plenty of ways to distract myself in the printshop. When I need a break, I poke around the various curiosities. This is cheesecloth used for Lithography, which I tried once, and then promptly ushered myself back to my side of the studio.

monotypes
Really, really needed to do something unrelated to my MCBA project this weekend. I spent a day making monotypes. No expectations, just moving ink around in whatever way my hands saw fit. I also printed very large, at least for me. I feel ready now to carry on.

Walker Art Center Research Library
Last week the mentees were invited to visit the Walker Art Center Research Library. When we arrived we were honored to find a selection of books that had been thoughtfully chosen for each of us based on our artist's statement and the artist's talk we presented in February. I plan to schedule more visits over the Summer as I continue to plan my final project.

Ready to print my first letterpress edition. Along with the text, I will print a polymer plate I made by using a scratched negative technique. I made the same image using a linoleum block but I preferred the more delicate line of the scratched negative.

This past weekend I participated in a workshop taught by the incredible Erica Spritzer-Rasmussen. It was good messy work. I would like to come back to some of the techniques she shared at a later time. Very fun!

a guide to the constellations
Who doesn't love a good book about the constellations? This one was published in 1928 and it is in pristine condition. I fished it out of a free box from an undisclosed location. I love the cyanotype blue of the images.
